This 1 story hip-roofed Federal/Greek Revival style house consists of an original T-plan of two front rooms arranged about a center hall. Early shed-roofed additions filled in the space on either side. The house retains plain wood weatherboards, & nine over nine sash wood windows. The P.E. Hervey House is located in Halifax County, NC. It is part of the Halifax Historic District. Built in the mid 1850’s, it has 12′ ceilings, 2 bedrooms with fireplaces, kitchen, laundry room, DR with fireplace, large entry and sitting room. The side porch leads to the bathroom and the concrete front porch is 25′ x 8′ long. The .75 acre lot goes from Dobbs Street to Highway 301. The historical sign in the front yard shows its’ place on the historical tour at one time. There are a few radiant wall heaters, but there is no heat/air.
