Red Hill Farm. On 19 acres in Virginia. $845,000

January 12, 2021

Some of you might recognize this house! This is my mom’s farm. As she is getting older, we felt the farm was becoming too much for her. Old houses require a lot of work, the land, the animals, it was time to downsize her, even though it was a difficult decision. So clearly, I know a lot about this house! It is a beautiful home and property. I loved nothing more than sitting on the front porch in the evening with a glass of wine to watch the sun set. The home features multiple porches. There is a sitting room at the back of the house which is where we all always hung out to watch tv. The kitchen is so cheerful and many meals were cooked in it by me. There are original hardwood floors and I can attest that the stairs have the perfect creaking sound on two steps as you go up. There are solid wood doors with original hardware. My mom did have french doors built in between the front parlor and the dining room. There is a sunroom off the front parlor. The library is another favorite room of mine and it is where my stepfather, Ron, lived the last few years of his life when he became unable to get around on his own. It is a beautiful home and I sure would love for it to go to someone that loves old houses as much as I do. This house was built approximately 1905. It is located on 19 acres in Alton, Virginia. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and 3,932 square feet. $845,000
