OMG! I want this! “Beaumont” is on over an acre in Virginia. $450,000

May 8, 2024

OMG! Someone go get this! It could be amazing! Beaumont was owned by the Roller family. They were founders of the nearby “Augusta Military Academy”. They show a build date of 1900. Parts look a bit older to me, but I guest the history of this is documented. Augusta Military Academy was founded in 1864. The house is on 1.41 acres in Fort Defiance, Virginia. The house features a screened in side porch, original hardwood floors, tall ceilings, arched entryways, wainscoting, crown moulding, exposed beams and pocket doors. There is a back staircase into the kitchen. If it were us, the house looks livable. So could easily move in and work project by project, room by room. Stuart House condition looked a bit worse than this and we live in it. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 3,341 square feet. $450,000

From the Zillow listing:

“BEAUMONT” WAS BUILT CIRCA 1900 BY MEMBERS OF THE ROLLER FAMILY. THE ROLLER FAMILY WERE THE ORIGINAL FOUNDERS OF “AUGUSTA MILITARY ACADEMY” THAT ADJOINED THE PROPERTY. THE MUSEUM IS STILL THERE TODAY. IN 1954 THIS MAGNIFICENT ESTATE WAS DEEDED TO THE TOPPING FAMILY AND REMAINED IN THE SAME FAMILY EVER SINCE. BECAUSE YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THIS HISTORIC HOME WAS OCCUPIED, “BEAUMONT” IS IN THE NEED OF RESTORATION TO BRING IT BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL GLORY. IT IS NOW BEING OFFERED BELOW ASSESSED VALUE TO GIVE THE RIGHT PERSON THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE OF THE MOST HISTORIC HOMES IN THE VALLEY
