So much unpainted wood! Circa, 1904. 1/2 acre in Texas. $289,900

June 26, 2018

A lot of unpainted wood in this house! Could be a nice house, but it needs a lot of work. I’m not sure what property values are like in this town, but I personally feel they are asking too much considering the work needed. Anyway, it does have a lot of nice, original features! Built in 1904 by D. H. Thompson, who built it for his wife. Original mantels, transom windows and a large 1/2 acre lot in Waxahachie, Texas. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and 5,830 square feet. $289,900

From the Zillow listing:

This is a beautiful Colonial Revival style home, with original wood work, doors and windows. It is listed on the National and State Historic Registry. All original hardwood floors in great condition, ship lap through out the entire home. the plumbing and electrical is partially updated and the property is well taken care of.
What I love about the home
This is a beautiful home that needs a family that wants a remodel with huge upside value potential. Has been in my family since the 60?s. My family was the second owner of the home. DH Thompson built this home for his wife in 1904 and included closets with transum windows for ventilation, beautiful fireplace mantles and more. It sits on a huge lot with room for a pool, garden, outside living and could be turned into a wonderful B&B.
