Off market. A house with a widow’s walk! This 1860 house in NY is HUGE and only $154k!

April 8, 2018

Don’t we all need a widow’s walk on our houses? What exactly is a widow’s walk? Back in the 19th century homes near the water or the coast were built with a widow’s walk so mariner’s wives could go up and look for their husband’s boats to be heading back to the shore.

Little Falls, New York does have a river, but not that close to this house. They eventually became standard decorative touches on Italianate style houses. They also provided access to the chimneys. Sand could be poured down the chimney if a fire was getting out of hand.

Built in 1860. This home has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, 4,834 square feet. It also has a detached two story, three car garage. $154,000
