When Pumpkins Took Over: A Look Back at Pumpkinpalooza

October 30, 2025

Pumpkinpalooza. It started with a simple idea — cover the porches and line the walkways with pumpkins. There wasn’t a name for it at first, just an urge to make everything feel a little more festive for the fall season. But once it turned into pumpkins lining the roof, the name Pumpkinpalooza seemed to fit perfectly!

In total, there were more than 500 pumpkins spread across three houses. It was one of those “go big or go home” moments — and this time, we definitely went big. Every porch step, railing, garden bed, and even the roof had a touch of orange. It was cheerful, a little over-the-top, and EXACTLY what fall should feel like.

When the season came to an end and the pumpkins started to soften, they didn’t go to waste. Every single one was donated to a local zoo, where the animals enjoyed them as treats and enrichment. It was the perfect ending to a very pumpkin-filled autumn.

Pictures say it best though, scroll down to see Pumpkinpalooza in all its glory!

We didn’t want the pumpkins to just rot away and go to waste, so donating them to a local zoo was the best option! Pumpkin enrichment or Pumpkin Prowl is what they call it. Around 300 pumpkins lasted long enough to be donated. Here are some of the beautiful animals they take in and care for.
