Greensboro’s Stone House. According to the book Greensboro The First 200 Years, the home is built from granite blocks believed to have been cut from a single bolder on the property. The town lists it as being built in 1790. There is a walk-in basement with newer electric panel and gas water heater. The basement also has a forced air propane furnace in addition to a rebuilt Sam Daniel’s wood furnace which offers central heat. The main floor has a large kitchen with dining area, living room, two bedrooms, and 3/4 bath. The entire first floor has exposed beam ceilings. Second floor has a light, open central space with shed dormer, 2 large bedrooms (one on each gable end of the home), a large storage closet and a 3/4 bath. Both second floor bedrooms and first floor living and dining rooms have views of Caspian Lake. Hardwood floors are throughout most of the house. There is a basement access at ground level and two exterior doors to the back and side yard from the main level. The land is .98 acre with a drilled well, septic system, mature maple trees and front and back yard. The home has been lived in year round for most of it’s life. The history it holds and the uniqueness and style of the thick granite walls are truly remarkable. A Greensboro treasure.
