November 10, 2021

Love the double porches! This diamond in the rough was built in 1882. It is located on .31 acres in Monticello, Florida. Wish they showed more interior pictures than under the house pictures. Having said that, under the house doesn’t look to be in bad shape. The home features original hardwood floors, plaster walls and solid wood doors. This home is in the heart of historic Monticello. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms and 3,114 square feet. $169,000

From the Zillow listing:

HISTORIC OLD NORTH FLORIDA HOME: A RESTORATION GEM in charming Monticello. Believed to have been built in the 1880’s, this old house is a “blank canvas” that still retains it’s classic Georgian/Colonial design feathers with 8 large rooms centered around a central hallway and staircase. It was constructed almost entirely with hearth pine lumber by skilled craftsmen who built many of Monticello’s fine old structures in the late 1800’s. Their craftsmanship is evidenced by the use of mortice and tenon joints in the framing and walls and in the solid old brick piers seen in this incredibly sturdy and resilient old home. In spite of little maintenance for several decades, there is very little settling and few cracks in the original lath and plaster walls. The stairs don’t creak and the old foundation piers are solid and strong. A recent leaky roof hasn’t phased most of the old heart pine lumber. This old house located in the heart of historic Monticello is a total rehab project, but its bones are strong and sturdy!
