October 2, 2019

Such a beautiful estate! Wirtland is a great example of a rural Gothic Revival and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1850. It is located on 112 acres in Oak Grove, Virginia. Originally built by William Wirt Jr., the son of former USA Attorney General William Wirt. It was constructed in the shape of a cross and built around a central chimney. The interior includes hardwood and marble floors, and plaster ceilings. Mr. Wirts died in 1898. At that time the house was owned by his son and daughter-in-law, who ran a boarding school for women in the house. The house later passed through several hands and then became neglected. In one room a ceiling collapsed. The home has been beautifully restored and was owned by Ingleside Vineyards. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 5,412 square feet. $1,780,000
