A $30,000 wooden bathtub!

July 18, 2018

I saw this wooden bathtub about a year ago on a website and immediately fell in love with it! We all love the deep claw foot tubs or the copper soaking bathtubs. Can you imagine how smooth this wooden tub must feel? I wanted one right then. I need a wood bathtub in my life! THEN I SAW THE PRICE!! The one I loved was only $30,000. They run from $15,000 to $30,000. They would definitely be a focal point of a bathroom! It is like purchasing a piece of artwork.

I found out who made them and visited his website. He is truly an artist! They are made by Nathie Katzoff of NK Woodworking and Design. He is only thirty years old. He got his start as a boat builder. Looking at his website had my mouth agape in awe at his talent. He has won awards for his stair designs.

The tagline on his website is “Fine Art Meets Function”. The bathtubs are supposedly maintenance free and made of walnut and mahogany. For $30,000 I hope it cleans itself. He says of his work:

Our clients tell us that when people walk into their homes and see our work, the reaction is “Wow!” That is our goal – to stop people in their tracks, to create architectural Art Masterpieces where the beauty and shape of the work lifts our spirits and inspires a sense of awe. We are changing the culture of what is possible in architectural interiors and home design.

His website is worth taking a look around. Every piece is more inspiring than the next and had me wondering how he does it and I wanted to learn more about him. This YouTube video below is worth a watch.
