Those ancient boxwoods are amazing! I want all of their portraits in this house! This home is known as “The Farm at the Furnace”. It was the first county seat. There is an old stone chimney that was used by the iron master for the nearby Washington Iron Furnace. The house was built in 1779. It is located on 4.48 acres in Rocky Mount, Virginia. The house features double portico, nice staircase, wood floors, picture rails and transom windows. There is a beautiful paneled den with huge fireplace. There is the old summer kitchen and my guess is it was also the old wash house. Five bedrooms, five bathrooms and 4,686 square feet. $799,950

It’s a two-story, frame dwelling with high ceilings, heart pine floors and spacious rooms with a total of 8 brick fireplaces. It features a two-story projecting front porch, a large great room with hand hewn beams and oversized fireplace. Later additions were made in the late-19th and early-20th century.
