What an interesting property! This property may have one of the oldest houses in North Carolina. This is interesting though. I remember a study being done on a house in Edenton a few years ago. They used a process called dendrochronology. What is that? Science or technique of dating events, environmental change, and archaeological artifacts by using patterns on growth rings in timber. They dated the Edenton house to 1718-1719. This listing claims one house could be early 1700’s. This property is in Hertford which isn’t far from Edenton.

The Beechtree Inn owners have decided to sell the western side of the estate. It includes the circa 1846 restaurant and two homes. One home is completely restored. The other, possibly one of the oldest in NC, needs a complete restoration. That sure would be a rewarding project! Located on 3.3 acres in Hertford, North Carolina.
