Major Ashcraft was a Civil War Veteran and known as a doctor of veterinary medicine and a farmer. The area was known as Rock Rest due to there being large rocks out front with a stream where people would stop with their horses to rest. Listing says two bedrooms, and one bathroom. From the Zillow listing:

Welcome to the Major J. B. Ashcraft home!!! According to the history of this home, it was built approximately 1870. Tax records say 1901. Many of the window have the original shutters. The original staircase remains along with the upstairs railings. The view from the 2nd story balcony is beautiful! The area was named Rock Rest because the front yard had a natural spring and travelers would stop to water their horses and rest. This is a piece of history. Needs work but what a showplace it could be! Home faces White Store Rd and that is where the drive is located. Directly behind Rock Rest Clubhouse. Acreage being cut out of larger tract.
